In 2009, while floating in a boat down the sacred Ganges River through Varanasi at dawn I was hit by an epiphany: I need to make my art with dye on silk. I had no knowledge of or experience with silk painting. I spent the next year in India researching and practicing this new art form.
This revelation was a gift. Though I had been a professional artist for ten years, illustrating books and painting murals all over the United States, silk painting truly defined my work. I went on to master the medium; doing unheard of things with silk and dye.
I apprenticed under fashion designer Marta Kappl and sold countless one of a kind wearable art pieces all over the country and world in shows, boutiques and galleries.
My work on silk is functional fine art. I have decided to specialize in drapes, curtains, tapestries and veils; using this medium in a way where it is treasuredbeyond fashion and opening the way for me to offer the height of my abilities to the lives of my collectors.
